Take time to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I offer supportive, empathetic therapy through which we can discover new perspectives on self and relationships, as well as life's many challenges and opportunities.

About Me

As a Person-Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist, I offer supportive and empathetic therapy through which we can explore new perspectives on self, on relationships, and on life in general.

Previous clients have appreciated my calm and caring attitude, that I listen carefully, and work in a non-judgemental way. Central to my approach is building a safe and trusting relationship through which we can work cooperatively. The client decides what they want to explore and at what pace. Through careful listening, I am able to recognise recurrent themes, key emotions and common thought patterns and then bring these to the client’s attention.

Having a space to explore our feelings and thoughts, our hopes and fears, can be transformative. In doing so, we can recognise how we are sometimes driven by deep emotional responses, and that we may be stuck in patterns of behaviour which are no longer useful. If we can recognise our emotions and thoughts rather than simply react to them, we might gain greater insight and control in our emotional lives.

My qualifications include a Bachelor Degree in Psychology (BSc Psych, Hons) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (PG Dip). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

My Practice

There are a variety of ways practitioners work. I have been trained primarily in three therapeutic approaches: ‘Humanistic or person-centred’, ‘Psychodynamic’, and ‘Existential’. I have had further training in CBT, Gestalt, Compassion-focussed Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

My training has been Integrative. This means that I am not tied to any one approach, and that I am able to adapt my style to suit individual needs. However, while some aspects of approach might change, at the heart of the sessions will always be an empathetic, caring, warm and positive attitude.

I can offer online video counselling via Teams or Zoom or in-person counselling based in The Practice Rooms in central Bristol. I work Monday to Thursday, first appointment at 9 am and last appointment starting at 7pm.  Sessions are 50 minutes. Currently, there is some availability for new clients. I work with people aged 18+ years of age.

Counselling sessions are usually once a week at the same day and time. Sessions last 50 minutes. The price of each counselling session is £55 .

Initially, you can contact me by email, phone or text.

First session

In the first session we will  discuss the terms of an agreement detailing how we will work together. I will ask for some background information and answer any questions you have about me as a counsellor or the counselling process itself.  Then I would ask you to talk about the reasons you have decided to come to counselling. You might outline the issues which are most pressing for you, and explain what positive changes you hope counselling might bring to your life.
